World Health Organization: Recommendations on choosing fabric masks

After the invention of disposable masks, the development of fabric masks has ended.

Until the pandemic caused devastating environmental problems, the development and functions of fabric masks have gained the spotlight again!

There are numerous fabric masks in the market which have different claims, different structures, etc. They are all very confusing!

WHO has listed some criteria of fabric masks which holds the same view as what NanoFit Protect has been emphasising!

NanoFit Protect is your only choice of fabric mask!

WHO’s recommendation on choosing fabric mask:

Check for filtration, breathability and fit when choosing a fabric mask.

Find the one that fits closely over your nose, cheeks and chin. When the edges of the mask are not close to the face and shift, such as when speaking, air penetrates through the edges of the mask rather than being filtered through the fabric.

Fabric masks should be made of three layers of fabric:

  • Outer layer of non-absorbent material, such as polyester or polyester blend.
  • Middle layer of non-woven non-absorbent material, such as polypropylene.
  • Inner layer of absorbent material, such as cotton.
